Steam Deck

Steam lists no Steam Deck rating. One early-access thread reports poor performance on Deck.

Launch-week fixes from the Steam board

These are player-reported workarounds, not IllFonic patches. Each is tied to the thread it came from so you can check whether it still applies after the day-one patch. The keybind and resolution steps are written out in the PC settings guide.

ProblemWhat players did
Low FPS at 4KSet the Windows desktop resolution to 1080p before launching; the game renders at desktop resolution because it only offers windowed modes, then raise the in-game resolution slider (Steam thread 'FPS TEMPORARY FIX', 10 replies, 5 Sep 2026).
Cannot change keybindsIn Bindings, switch the profile from Default to Custom A or Custom B; only then do individual binds become editable (two Steam threads, 5 Sep).
Cannot tell if house lights are onSwitch up is on, down is off; there is no text prompt (Steam thread 'Lights on/off').
Crash on starting the campaign but not in a lobbyReported 5 Sep; no fix confirmed in the thread.
Xbox Series S frame rate'halloween the game fps no xbox series s' is a live search; IllFonic has not published console performance targets.

Console and Deck questions are on the platforms page. If it runs, start with the story mode, which doubles as the Michael tutorial.

Spec questions

How big is Halloween: The Game?

45 GB, and Steam states an SSD or NVMe drive is required, not just recommended.

What FPS does it target on Xbox Series S?

IllFonic has not published console performance targets. The PC page lists 1080p at 30 fps for the minimum spec and 1440p at 60 fps for the recommended one; nothing equivalent exists for Series S yet.

Why is my FPS low at 4K?

The early-access build offers windowed modes only and renders at your Windows desktop resolution. Players in the FPS fix thread set the desktop to 1080p before launching, then raised the in-game resolution slider.

Can I change the keybinds?

Yes, but only after switching the Bindings profile from Default to Custom A or Custom B.
